L-Arginine and Heart Medicines: What MemoHoney Buyers Should Check First
Two of MemoHoney's seven label lines are forms of L-arginine, 400 mg together. Mayo Clinic advises against L-arginine soon after a heart attack and flags it with sildenafil, nitrates, pressure pills, diabetes medicine, anticoagulants and some water pills (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). On any of those? Ask your pharmacist or doctor before the first capsule.

The short version
Why does the arginine in a memory capsule matter for heart patients?
L-arginine works on blood vessels, and so do many heart drugs. Together, the effects can stack.
MemoHoney is sold for memory. Still, the panel carries plain L-arginine at 200 mg plus an AKG 2:1 extract at another 200 mg. The body uses arginine to make nitric oxide, which helps vessel walls relax. Wider vessels can mean lower pressure.
The bottle's caution stays general and names no drug.
Lines three and four of seven. AKG pairs arginine with alpha-ketoglutarate, so true arginine is a little under 400 mg. Both forms are covered on the L-arginine ingredient page.
Heart attack history
Is L-arginine safe after a heart attack?
Mayo Clinic's answer is no. Its review says L-arginine is not recommended soon after a heart attack, since it might increase the chance of dying (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). No other warning in that review is as strong.
The uses that review covers are heart and circulation ones, such as angina and narrowed leg arteries. Memory is absent.
Bring the label to your heart doctor and let them decide.
Drug clashes
Which heart and blood pressure medicines interact with L-arginine?
Mayo Clinic names seven groups. Four involve pressure sinking too far.
| Medicine group | Familiar examples | The concern |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure-lowering pills | Lisinopril, losartan, amlodipine | Readings fall too far |
| Nitrates for chest pain | Nitroglycerin, isosorbide | A steep pressure dip |
| Sildenafil and similar | Viagra, tadalafil | A steep pressure dip |
| Isoproterenol | Given in hospitals | Readings fall too far |
| Anticoagulants, antiplatelets | Warfarin, apixaban, clopidogrel | More bleeding |
| Diabetes medicines | Insulin, glipizide | Sugar drops too low |
| Potassium-sparing water pills | Spironolactone, triamterene | Potassium builds up |
Mayo lists the groups; the example drug names are ours. Your pharmacist can check the exact product on your shelf.
Dose in context
How does MemoHoney's arginine compare with research doses?
It is much smaller. Exercise trials summed up by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements used 2 to 20 grams daily (NIH ODS, Exercise supplements). A capsule is roughly a fifth of the smallest of those doses.
| Daily amount | Reported result |
|---|---|
| 400 mg, one capsule | No study in the cited sources |
| 2 to 20 g | Nitric oxide and blood flow usually unchanged |
| Up to 9 g | Well tolerated over days or weeks |
| 9 to 30 g | Stomach upset and a slight pressure drop |
Is a small dose safe with heart drugs? Nobody knows. Mayo gives no safe floor, and no one has tested 400 mg beside a nitrate or a thinner. Smaller lowers the odds; it does not rule a problem out.
The rest of the label
Do citrulline and niacin matter with heart medicines?
Mention them, though our sources flag them less. Your body converts citrulline into arginine, and each capsule adds 200 mg of it (NIH ODS, Exercise supplements).
For niacin, count your total. A capsule gives 7.5 mg NE. Big nicotinic acid doses can push blood sugar up, and the ceiling from supplements is 35 mg daily (NIH ODS, Niacin). The panel never names the niacin form.

What should you ask your pharmacist before taking MemoHoney?
A counter check costs nothing. Bring the bottle or a sharp photo of its Supplement Facts.
Does arginine clash with my list?
Include inhalers, eye drops and store-bought pills. Name the 400 mg of arginine.
Could my pressure fall too low?
Ask what that would feel like and whether to take home readings for a few weeks.
What about my nitrate or ED pill?
Give this pairing its own question.
Will my bleeding risk change?
Key for warfarin, newer thinners, clopidogrel or daily aspirin.
Sugar or potassium?
Ask if you use diabetes medicine or a water pill like spironolactone.
Does my doctor need to weigh in?
If yes, wait for that visit. The capsule can wait too.

Does MemoHoney fit your health history? Five quick questions
Act fast
When is it an emergency, not a pharmacist question?
When symptoms come on suddenly, dial 911. One-sided numbness or weakness, new confusion, slurred words, sight or balance trouble, or an abrupt severe headache may mean a stroke (CDC, Stroke signs).
Keep taking your prescribed medicine. Never stop or change a prescribed dose on your own.
Bottom line
Should people on heart medicine skip MemoHoney?
Not always, but the choice is not a solo one. Soon after a heart attack, Mayo says avoid L-arginine (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). With any drug in the table above, let a professional read the label first.
One point in the brand's favor: every amount is printed, so a pharmacist can judge the real dose. See who MemoHoney suits.

NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, 2026.Arginine at 2-20 g a day had little to no effect on performance and typically no effect on nitric oxide or blood flow; up to 9 g a day for weeks is well tolerated; 9-30 g causes stomach upset and slightly lower blood pressure. Citrulline was studied at 3-8 g; support is weak; safety over months not well assessed. Beta-alanine at 1.6-6.4 g a day appears safe for up to 8 weeks; 800 mg or more in one dose can cause harmless tingling for 60-90 minutes.

FAQ
L-arginine and heart medicine: common questions
Can you take L-arginine with blood pressure medicine?
Only after a doctor or pharmacist agrees. Mayo Clinic notes the pair may send readings lower than intended (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). No trial has paired MemoHoney's 400 mg with these drugs.
Does L-arginine interact with Viagra or nitroglycerin?
Both sit on Mayo Clinic's interaction list (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Each already relaxes blood vessels, and L-arginine may deepen the dip. Ask a professional before combining.
Is L-arginine OK with warfarin or clopidogrel?
Ask first. Mayo Clinic links L-arginine with extra bleeding risk alongside anticoagulants and antiplatelets (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Whoever manages your thinner should hear about any new supplement, MemoHoney included.
What dose of arginine does MemoHoney contain?
Two lines: L-arginine (base) 200 mg and an AKG 2:1 extract 200 mg. Since AKG is a pairing with alpha-ketoglutarate, actual arginine lands somewhat below the 400 mg total.
Can L-arginine raise potassium levels?
With potassium-sparing water pills like spironolactone or triamterene, it may, says Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). High potassium can upset heart rhythm, so ask first.
Does L-arginine affect blood sugar?
It may lower it further when paired with diabetes drugs, per Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). On insulin or sugar pills? Ask about testing more often at first.
